Chapwani Island Hotel
A coral island nearly a kilometer long surrounded by small coves, sandy bays
and crystal blue waters is situated just over a mile from the coast to the North West tip of
Stone Town and can be reached within 15 minutes with an engine powered boat from Stone Town.
The island is the perfect spot for those seeking a small quite lodge in a relaxed
atmosphere.
There are only five bandas with a total of ten rooms right on the beach
decorated with colourful African prints and furnished with a four poster bed, a mosquito net,
ceiling fan (No air conditioning), wardrobe and traditional Zanzibari writing desk, each
room has its own terrace and lounge beds on the beach in front of the room. The rooms
are not large but are comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and separate toilet.
The restaurant on the water’s edge provides a unique blend of Oriental, African
and European cuisine using local ingredients fresh from the market.
The only power on the island comes from a generator situated on the
opposite side of the island out of ear-shot. The rooms have
current during the day but the generator is switched
off at mid-night and each room has a
lantern on the porch.
